Melissa Winslow uses a combination of her fine art training and her years of experience as a photojournalist to present the viewer with a unique exploration of her subject that is at once honest and dramatic in appearance. By merging these two schools of thought, her work invokes the qualities of fine art photography and photographic journalism, imparting her compositions with a contemporary, stylistic edge.
Melissa studied photography at Central Connecticut State University, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in media art with a concentration in photography. With experience in commercial, portrait and wedding photography, she interned with Brzezicki Photography in Glastonbury, CT. She worked as a photographer for six weekly newspapers in Litchfield County, as well as Passport magazine and the LCT Monthly Magazine, also based in Litchfield County. Although she works primarily in digital photography, she also shoots 35mm film.
